The BMW R80RT that I rode half way round the world in 1983/84 remained in my posession and in regular use for over 30 years. In 2009 I sold her to a specialist who converted her to a cafe racer and sold her to a collector. I’m told she now makes regular appearances at Goodwood. A fitting transformation for a fine, noble machine.
I rediscovered cycling in March 2005 after a 45 year layoff. Within weeks I’d decided to cycle the “end to end” as it is known by the cognoscenti. I was too knackered most of the time to take pictures, but I managed a few here and there.
